CAREER SKILL TRAINING

A project titled 'DAKSH (NIPUN)' was started in 2012 by Parivar Vikas with its supporting partners - ChildFund India to provide a life skill and employable training to youth.

The specific objectives of the project are to at least one regular earning in every family

Every Year train 60 women youth in Tailoring

Every Year train 60 women youth in beautician

Every Year train 30 youth in Computer diploma training

Every year 20 youth will be trained in driver or other industrial technology training

Poorest Area Civil Society (PACS - DFID)

A project titled 'preparing panchayats for responsible governance' was started in 2004 by Parivar Vikas with its networking partners - Sarva Kalyan Sansthan (Sikandra), Lok Vikas Sansthan (Sabalbigha) and Jan Shikshan Kendra (Chakai) in 86 villages of Jamui district. This project is being supported by Department for International Development (DFID) through Poorest Area Civil Society (PACS) Programme and Development Alternatives.

The specific objectives of the project are:

  1. To strengthen the local self-governance institutions by enhancing the capacity of elected members
  2. To enable GRAM SABHA members in general, and women and those belonging to the weaker sections of the society in particular, to play an active role in the decision making process
  3. To strengthen the process of democratic decentralization at grass-root level

Major activities include:

  1. Awareness on NREGA through meetings and workshops
  2. Block level workshops on panchayat related issues
  3. District level workshop at Jamui
  4. Awareness campaign on panchayat elections in Jamui district
  5. Training for panchayat members in each panchayat of the area

Major Impacts/Achievements

  1. All panchayat election candidates were trained on election issues and some of the SHG members were encouraged to participate in election
  2. The panchayat members benefited themselves with their capacity building training
  3. Panchayat Information Centre was brought an easy availability of latest and updated information to Gram Sabha and gram panchayat members at local level
  4. Awareness campaign on panchayat elections in Jamui district
  5. Training for panchayat members in each panchayat of the area
